Salary Cap / Points System

1. Each manager gets 12 points to spend on 5 keepers.
2. A player’s cost is determined by the number consecutive years he has spent on a roster and has not been available in the general draft. In other words for each consecutive year that a player is NOT available in the general draft his value goes up by one.
1. If a player has spent 2 consecutive years on a roster (any roster) his cost is 2 points.
2. If a player has spent 3 consecutive years on a roster (any roster) his cost is 3 points.
3. Etc...
   

3. There are only two ways that a player’s cost can decrease.
1. A trade: If a player is traded his cost goes down by one. This cost reduction can only be obtained once per year for each player.
2. Draft availability: If a player is available in the general draft his cost is reset to 0.
   

4.   There is no grand-father rule. If this proposal is accepted players involved in previous trades would not receive a cost reduction.
5. If a player is traded back to his original owner in the same year as the original trade the cost reduction is cancelled.
6. A player may receive a cost reduction due to a trade only twice. If a player is made available in the general draft the number of cost reductions he has received due to trade is reset to zero.
   
7. The lowest salary for a keeper is 0.  In other words, if a keeper at the cost of zero is traded he would not receive a cost reduction.

Important Note:

It won't be an issue this season or next but I'd like to remind everyone something about the keeper rules and the salary cap system.  At no time is a manager allowed to go over 12 points for any reason at any point of the season.  In other words any trade would have to take this into consideration.  Any new player acquired via a trade would have to fit into your budget.  Please see above for cost reduction rules associated with trades.
